European Parliament rejects ๐Ÿ’‰ vaccination passport due to violation of fundamental rights

Members of the European Parliament requested a press conference in Strasbourg on 20 October 2021. The press conference entitled “Protecting Fundamental Rights by Countering the Abuse of digital vaccine travel cards” was held by four MEPs: Christine Anderson (Germany), Francesca Donato (Italy), Ivan Vilibor Sinฤiฤ‡ (Croatia) and Christian Terheลก (Romania).

Members of the European Parliament, whose website emblazones the motto “The will of the people must be the basis of government”, are elected by direct vote of voters in the member states and have the task of protecting the interests of citizens in the EU. legislation to represent and ensure democracy in other EU institutions.

Parliament has the power to adopt and modify legislative proposals, and its role is “not only to promote democratic decision-making in Europe, but also to support the struggle for democracy, freedom of speech and fair elections around the world.”

However, democracy and rights are being violated everywhere in Europe. Lawyer and MEP from Italy Francesca Donato said that “we have a terrible situation in Europe today, because human rights are not respected […], and peaceful protests are brutally suppressed throughout Europe.” Using Italy, where thousands of Italians have gathered to protest against the Green Passport, Donata argues that citizens are forced to undergo invasive and dangerous medical procedures and that they are forced to give “informed consent” to sign and receive a vaccine, which is “consent extortion.”

She adds that even those who have medical contraindications to vaccination are forced to get vaccinated because they fear losing their jobs and basic rights.

She concluded: “So we are dealing with a medical issue that has become a democratic issue. Today, we all have to stand up for human rights in Europe, we have to do it together, and we have to do it right now.”

MEP Christine Anderson also stressed the importance of human rights and called for action: “In this crisis, we have seen that civil rights and freedoms have evolved from fundamental rights to privileges that governments grant or revoke at will. I call on all Europeans to defend themselves against any government that tries to deprive us of our freedom, our civil rights and our freedoms!”

The rights they speak of were created by the United Nations and are, as they call it, “a comprehensive set of human rights – a universal and internationally protected code to which all countries can subscribe and to which all people aspire”. Internationally recognized rights include economic, civil, cultural, political and social rights as defined by the United Nations, and the basis of this body of rights is the Charter of the United Nations of 1945, which states: “We, the peoples of the United Nations, are determined to save future generations from the scourge of war, which has twice in our lifetime brought untold suffering to humanity”.
